Planning
Creating mood boards gave me some themes to explore.
I started by creating some mood boards to get some inspiration and ideas flowing. This also gave me the chance to see if I was going in the right direction by showing themes to people which allowed for feedback and communication to guide me on the right path.

Sketches
Quickly sketching to filter the best ideas to progress with.
I started with creating rough sketches which I didn't need to be precious about which allowed me to get as many ideas out as possible and start filtering out the sketches I thought would be best to work up.

Developed Concepts
I picked three ideas and developed the style with a range of variation to choose from.
The main idea for all of the hearts was the interchangeability of the hearts which would give the design some flexibility on how they could be used.

Valentines Style guide
Creating a visual style guide for consistency was used successfully across five EU markets.
In the end, the hanging paper hearts were chosen to be used across the five Amazon European markets for its simplicity and the way it could be adapted as to the length of the hanging hearts and being able to have a heart on its own or used as a pair.
A Valentine's visual style guide was created giving guidance on typographic specifications, colour palette usage and illustration specifications as to which size sets were available to use and do's and don'ts for the illustrations. Below are a very slimmed down version showing type, colour and graphic usage.

Examples
Flexible and simple design enabled versatile use without any complications.
The hanging hearts were used across a range of different categories on Amazon and also a wide range of different sizes.

Results
The design & style guide was launched for designers to use across amazon's five EU markets without complication.
The amazon style guide was used across the EU markets without any complications and the experience I learned from this allowed me to create a summer style guide which again was picked and used across the Amazon EU markets.
